Valetti winery: wine and architecture in Bardolino

Valetti’s dream: past and present

Valetti is a beautiful winery set close to Bardolino. The winery owes its name to the last name of the family who has been running it for over 100 years. It was grandfather Angelo who, at the beginning of the last century, set the milestone of this winery. He bought some land in Bardolino where he built his house and planted the first vines to support his family. Some years later, his son Luigi decided to turn his dad’s dream into reality and founded the winery. Today, three brothers on their 40s -Stefano, Luca and Davide- run together the business. A couple of years ago they gave a breath of fresh air to the entire business with the building of the majestic winery where innovation and tradition perfectly coexist.

The innovative winery

The three brothers renovated it completely in 2017. One of the thing we really like about it, is that it perfectly mixes tradition and modernity, beauty and comfort. So even if from the outside it doesn’t really look like a traditional winery, inside has the personal and comfortable touch a winery has to have. Glass, stones and weathering steel are the main materials used in the building and they all have a special meaning. Through the glass you can look inside and outside the winery making a connection with the view and the environment. The stones remind you the dry-stone walls you can find in the vineyards. The weathering steel is instead the symbol of modernity and represent the innovative spirit of the winery. Last but not least, the hidden gem of Valetti’s winery is the panoramic terrace from which you can enjoy an amazing view on Lake Garda or organize a gorgeous party in a breath-taking setting.

Valetti’s wine selection

And now…let’s talk about wines! Valetti’s wine production is mainly focused on the typical wines of Bardolino area, including the DOC rosè Bardolino Chiaretto. This is probably their most representative wine. Indeed, for the last three years their rosè has won the gold medal at the international competition Le Mondial du Rosè. Another interesting aspect of their wine selection is the line “Re Barbari” (Barbarian Kings). They are three igt wines (100% Chardonnay, 100% Corvina and a blend of Merlot and Cabernet) which represent the guys' desire for making something different.
